How to use it

Open Graph Previewer, in 5 steps.

  1. Paste the address of any public page, like your homepage or a new blog post.

  2. Press Check previews. We read the page's tags the way a social network does.

  3. Switch between Facebook, LinkedIn, X, iMessage and Slack to see each card.

  4. Work through the checks from the top: problems first, then warnings and tips.

  5. Copy the suggested tags into your page head, publish, and check again.

Questions

Good to know.

What are Open Graph tags?

They are meta tags in a page's head, such as og:title, og:description and og:image, that tell Facebook, LinkedIn, iMessage, Slack and most other apps what to show when someone shares the link. X reads them too, plus its own twitter:card tags.

What size should my share image be?

1200 x 630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio) works well across Facebook, LinkedIn, X, iMessage and Slack. Keep the file under 1 MB, use JPG or PNG, and keep text and faces away from the edges because some apps crop a little.

I fixed my tags. Why does Facebook still show the old preview?

Networks cache previews. Facebook and LinkedIn both offer a free inspector you can use to refresh a link (the Sharing Debugger and the Post Inspector). Slack and iMessage update on their own after a while, or when the address changes.

Are these previews exact?

They are close reference layouts built from your live tags and image. Each app redesigns its cards from time to time and crops differently on phones and desktops, so treat them as a reliable guide, not a pixel perfect screenshot.

Is it safe to check any address?

Yes. We only fetch public web pages over standard ports, never private or internal addresses, read just the page head (up to 2 MB) and the first part of the image, and send no cookies. We do not store the pages you check.
