How to use it
Three steps.
No account needed.
Enter a page and pick a device
Google mainly looks at the mobile version of your site, so start there. Switch to desktop any time.
Wait about 30 seconds
Google loads your page on a simulated phone or computer and checks how real Chrome visitors experienced it.
Start with the top fix
We rank the five changes with the biggest estimated savings and explain each one without the jargon. If Google's service is busy, you still get a quick check of the page itself.
Questions
About the Page Speed Checker
What are Core Web Vitals?
Three measurements Google uses to judge page experience. Largest Contentful Paint is how fast the main content shows up. Interaction to Next Paint is how quickly the page reacts when someone taps or clicks. Cumulative Layout Shift is how much things jump around while loading. A page passes when at least 75% of real visits are rated good on all three.
What is the difference between real visitor data and lab data?
Real visitor data comes from Chrome users who opened your page over the last 28 days, so it reflects actual phones and connections. Lab data is one test run in a controlled setting. Google ranks on the real visitor data; the lab run is best for finding what to fix.
Why is there no real visitor data for my page?
Google only publishes it when a page or site gets enough Chrome traffic. Newer or smaller sites often do not qualify yet. In that case use the lab score and fixes, which work for any public page.
Why does my score change every time I run it?
Lab tests vary a little with server load, ads, third party scripts and network timing. Swings of a few points are normal. Run it two or three times and look at the trend, not one number.
Is this the same as Google PageSpeed Insights?
Yes, the results come straight from Google's PageSpeed Insights API, the same engine behind pagespeed.web.dev. We present them in plain English and rank the fixes for you. Use the Open in PageSpeed Insights link for the full technical report.
What is the quick check?
Google limits how many free speed tests can run each day. When its service is busy, we fetch your page once and check the things we can read from the HTML itself: download time, page size, redirects, scripts that block the first paint, image sizes and third party scripts. It is not a speed score, but it usually points at the same fixes.
