Questions
About the
Word and Character Counter.
How are characters counted?
Characters are counted the way people see them, so an emoji or an accented letter counts as one. Spaces and line breaks are included in the main count and left out of the without spaces count. A few platforms count differently, and the platform limits use their rules where they are public.
Why does my X post count differ from the character count?
X weights characters. Links always count as 23, emoji count as 2, and Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters count as 2. Standard accounts get 280 weighted characters. The X post meter applies those rules.
What are the Google Ads text limits?
Responsive search ad headlines allow 30 characters and descriptions allow 90. Wide characters such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean count as 2. Use the Per line view to check a whole list of headlines at once.
How long should a meta title and meta description be?
Google cuts titles by pixel width, which works out to roughly 60 characters, and descriptions to roughly 155 to 160 characters on desktop. For a pixel accurate check, use our free SERP Snippet Previewer.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time assumes 238 words a minute, the average silent reading speed for adults in a large 2019 review of reading studies. Speaking time assumes 150 words a minute, a comfortable pace for a talk or a video script.
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Your draft is kept in this browser's local storage so it is still there if you refresh, and the Clear button removes it.
