Questions
About the Schema Markup Generator
What is schema markup?
Schema markup is structured data, a small block of code that describes a page in a language search engines read directly: this is a dental practice, here is its address, these are its hours. It helps Google understand the page and makes it eligible for rich results such as review stars, product prices and business details.
What is JSON-LD and where do I paste it?
JSON-LD is the format Google recommends for structured data. It lives in a script tag, separate from your visible content, so it will not change how the page looks. Paste it in the page head or anywhere in the body. Most website builders and SEO plugins have a field for custom code or schema.
Which type should a dental office, clinic or law firm use?
Use the most specific type that fits. A dental practice should use Dentist, a medical practice MedicalClinic, and a law firm LegalService. Each one is a kind of LocalBusiness, so it carries the same address, hours and phone details, with a more precise label.
Will schema markup get me rich results?
It makes a page eligible, but Google decides what to show. FAQ rich results, for example, are now shown mainly for well known government and health websites. Markup still helps search engines and AI assistants understand your content, so it is worth adding where it is accurate.
Can I add review stars to my own business?
Google does not show star ratings for reviews a business publishes about itself on its own LocalBusiness or Organization markup. Ratings on Product markup must reflect genuine reviews that visitors can see on the same page. Never mark up reviews that are not on the page.
How do I test my schema?
Paste the code or your page address into Google's Rich Results Test to see which rich results it qualifies for, and into the Schema Markup Validator for a full check against schema.org. After publishing, Search Console reports any structured data errors it finds.
